Curious about Jiu-Jitsu?

Come learn core Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu principals to accelerate your introduction to the sport. This 4-part, weekly series will expose you to basic Jiu-Jitsu vernacular, main positions in Jiu-Jitsu and build a foundation that you will use throughout this magnificent journey!

What can you expect from this series?

  • Core concepts of Jiu-Jitsu that are transferable to advanced classes
  • Increased movement through warm-ups and drills
  • Attacks/defenses from each of the main positions in Jiu-Jitsu
  • Introduction to live rolling and training with resistance

*This workshop series is priced low as an introductory platform, recipients that complete this series receive a uniform on completion, but can opt-out and save. Coach Jamal Valdez-Allen brings art and soul back to the sweet science. He utilizes innovative and fun instructional techniques to establish foundational and forgotten basics.With his unique teaching style informed by a 30 year history of martial arts training you can learn strategies to help deal with obstacles in the ring as well as everyday life.

Coach Jamal is a former four time ABF and two time Golden Glove champion. He has trained fighters for over 15 years including National, Golden Gloves, Women’s National, and ABA champions at UC Berkeley and East Oakland Boxing.

He has studied martial arts (including Taiji, Wing Chung, Mantis, and Taekwondo) for over 30 years. He was coached by the greatest light heavyweight champion, Bob Foster, and trained with the great Johnny Tapia.

Coach Jamal uses his broad range of experience to create a curriculum that allows students to understand and master the basics of boxing to become champions!

Level: All skills presented are taught as progressions, there is no prerequisite.

The future is intersectional and so are our classes! Our programs are design to complement each other so whether your goals are strength and conditioning, self defense, fight training, or general wellness, you will find a little bit of everything thrown in the mix.
